January 4/5 - Macro
While on vacation, I got the opportunity to shoot some macro flowers. These are shot with a 24-70 f/2.8 lens with 15mm and 25mm extension tubes mounted between the camera and lens. This let me get the lens as close as millimeters from the subject which can render some pretty cool images. I quickly learned that a tripod and remote release are an absolute requirement for getting these sharp and in focus. The depth of field this close is VERY shallow!
A succulent in the backyard. This one is shot wide open at f/2.8 to give it more blur around edges.
Close up of a rose in a window. This image shot at f/7.1 to give it a bit more sharpness on the pedals.
