Corvallis 4th of July

July 05, 2012  •  Leave a Comment

Yesterday was the first time since 2008 that I was in the country for the fourth of July so I hadn't been able to properly try to photograph the big fireworks.  The past few years I've been in Europe for work covering the Henley Royal Regatta in England and the Lucerne World Cup but this year the regatta was a bit earlier in the calendar so I was able to get back for the fourth.

I was hoping to get a shot with a bit of light left in the sky so you could still see Mary's Peak in the background.  They started the big fireworks too late for this but I managed to get this one during one of the few warm up bursts.  I like this image because of the simplicity and framing of the single burst that it's red, white, and blue of course!
